Melanie and Vanessa Iris Royfrom Charlotte, North Carolina wanted to be mothers. Both are couples and decided that the two would become pregnant, yes, with a year of difference between one pregnancy and another. They had the idea of telling their story with images through the Instagram social network so that they could serve as an example to other same-sex couples who, like them, also wanted to start a family.
What they would never have imagined is that their history, The story of how a couple of lesbian moms formed a family became viral.
"The woman's body is amazing. The way she creates and grows another human being is amazing. We hope that our images are what other women like us need to be encouraged to start their own family," says Melanie.
"It's crazy to hear how people refer to our family as an inspiration," says Melanie, "We're still in shock"
Vanessa gave birth to her son Jax in 2014 and Melanie to her daughter Ero in 2015
