Toys'R'Us closes all its stores in the United States and could also affect Spain and France

After he declared bankruptcy in September, we now know that the toy store chain Toys'R'Us plans to close its more than 700 stores in the United States, predictably in the month of April.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the head of the company, David Brandon, informed the workers at the headquarters today, and the measure could also affect the business in France, Spain, Poland, Portugal and Australia.

The multinational also confirmed that it will carry out a cessation of activity and reorganization for the sale of its operations in Canada and internationally in Asia and Central Europe, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Toys 'R' Us in Spain

Regarding the situation in our country, as well as in Australia, France, Poland and Portugal, the company indicated that "its alternatives are being analyzed", which could include a potential sale.

"We are working, in close collaboration with our advisors, to achieve measures that allow us to preserve the continuity of our activity in Spain, as well as the interests of our employees and employees," said Jean Charretteur, CEO of Toys "R" Us en Spain and Portugal, as we read in The World Economy.

Defeated by online sales

We have all bought toys for our children in one of the 53 stores in Spain, or within them in the Babies'R'Us baby section, but the company has not been able to survive the growing competition of online sales

Apparently, consumer behavior has changed. Parents increasingly prefer to shop for toys over the internet, and especially in the most famous online retail giant, Amazon, which in the last year increased by 24% sale in this sector.

The company, which has 70 years of experience and has 1,600 stores worldwide, stressed that stores in all international markets "are currently open and serving customers."

In the United States they are already preparing for large closing settlements from Toys'R'Us. So here too We'll be alert.
