Mother's Hotel at the Reina Sofía Hospital in Córdoba

The decree of the hospitalized child establishes the right of minors to receive health care under conditions adapted to the needs of their age, such as babies who are breastfed.

Within that framework, the Maternal and Child Area of the Reina Sofía University Hospital of Córdoba, has created the Hotel de Madres, the first in Andalusia.

They are rooms equipped to provide maximum comfort to the mothers of babies who have to stay in the hospital after birth.

They have been created with the idea of favoring the mother-child affective bond, as well as breastfeeding from the first day of life.

As we can see in the image, the decoration and the set of facilities are designed so that both the baby and the mother feel at home and so that the cold sensation of being in a hospital is minimized as much as possible.

The rooms, which are four, offer permanent stay. They have a sofa, table, chairs, telephone and television and, in addition, an area equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer and sink, which the mothers appreciate very much.

The initiative is very, very good, like the rest of the measures that the center is carrying out in favor of the well-being of the hospitalized child.

The only thing that would be criticizable is that maybe four rooms are not enough, but I don't want to be critical, because it is a service that is very much needed and that it would be very good if the example was extended to the rest of the maternal units of the country, although in some Hospitals already exist.

Since when a baby is hospitalized he needs permanent contact with his mother for a better recovery in addition to a home environment that contributes to their improvement.
