Marathon-protest with babies in Barcelona

Unfortunately I did not know before to let you know, but at least I will contribute by giving the event post-dissemination.

Yesterday, coinciding with the tetada to celebrate the World Breastfeeding Week and taking advantage of the concentration of mothers, a Marathon with babies in which more than 700 people participated.

The little ones were carried in backpacks, in strollers or on foot through the center of the city, although the form and speed did not matter too much but the collective route was rather symbolic.

The intention was to represent the raising of a child as a marathon in order to raise awareness of the few political and social measures around birth.

Three hundred families were part of the trip to join the proposal to be noted to claim, among other things, better financial assistance per child, really effective policies that allow reconciling family and work life, longer paternity and maternity leave, improvements in day care centers and support for mothers after childbirth.

To all those claims as a mother, I join. And incidentally, it would not be bad for this type of demonstrations to be organized in other cities so that more parents can join us.

With respect to the comparison of a resistance race with the raising of a child, it is clear that both require effort, dedication and that in both cases the satisfaction on reaching the goal is so great that you realize that any sacrifice has been worth the sorrow.
