The tricks of lights and sounds to calm the baby

When we had our first child, a friend gave us one of those baby watches that come on when the baby starts crying, emitting music and / or making light projections to calm him. We never get to use it for this purpose.

A few days ago I read a story that talked about a new similar device with lights and sounds to distract the baby if he starts to cry.

The pot in question is called Voice Activated Crib Light w / Womb Sounds (Cradle light that is activated with the voice with sounds of the womb) and emits a sound similar to what a baby can perceive in the womb, so it is supposed to help you stop crying.

I had never stopped to think about these devices, but reading about this one in particular came to my mind, "But do babies have no parents?" When a child wakes up and cries it is because something bothers or bothers him. Perhaps he has had a bad dream, he may be hungry, he may feel lonely, he may be cold, perhaps there has simply been a change in the phase of sleep and he needs some calm to go back to sleep, he may have been overstimulated during the day (when we have too many visits at home, for example) and stress makes you cry at night, maybe ...

The point is that most of those "maybe" require the presence of dad and / or mom and if we leave the responsibility of attending to our son at a time of crying in the hands of an apparatus that emits lights and colors, we are in a way disregarding his true needs, for I doubt that a child will claim through such crying audiovisual spectacle.

Where a mother or father is, take the rest away

Babies have few resources to claim the care they need. Crying is the desperate resource and we parents should attend to it simply because we are their parents and because When a child cries, he suffers.

Giving a device that makes lights and colors the power to calm a baby seems illogical. A suffering human being needs warmth, caresses, a hug, someone who listens to and understands him, someone to lean on. A baby needs it even more, because they alone do not know how to manage stress.

And there are no such devices for adults?

We adults also cry and also suffer and have problems. Why not invent a device that emits lights and colors to calm us down?

Oops! Sorry. It seems to me that this device I comment already exists. Is called television. Knowing it, in case my wife has a problem, I will recommend that you turn on the TV to calm down. Maybe it works, maybe not. In this case you can always use other solutions already known as shopping, docking, getting drunk, not complaining so as not to disturb, etc.

The problem will still be there, but she will feel better for having removed her concerns from her mind (at least for a moment).

That is the solution?

Well, I don't think it's a solution to anything, neither the TV nor the other resources mentioned solve the problems, nor the Voice Activated Crib Light w / Womb Sounds or similar are a good alternative to the smell, the heat, the presence and affection of the hands and arms of mom or dad.
