Finally I have removed the subtitle of "humor" in the statement of the post because the truth is that well seen the situation is not too funny ... Many grandparents who enjoy the summer, which is their turn, survive it. Grandparents who have to take care of grandchildren on vacation And they end up exhausted.
This should not be an extraordinary situation, considering that Spanish grandparents are the ones who spend more time caring for grandchildren.
I understand that the options of many parents who see how school is over and they have to keep working is complicated. And that among the options nursery, summer school, camp or grandparents these may be the best choice for many parents.
At least the mother arrives from work and not from a vacation without children, which would be a much more debatable and unjustifiable situation in my opinion (especially in the case of grandparents who do not have full strength or help like the one in the vignette).
But leaving vacations without children aside, in the case of parents who are still working I can think of a better alternative for children, together with summer school offers: that companies provide spaces with caregivers and activities so that children can be on vacation near parents.
I know that it is quite utopian and there are jobs in which it would be impossible, but I know a few cases of companies in which it would be viable, even the workers would be willing to take turns taking care of their children.
As long as there are no other options, I understand that many parents have to turn to grandparents.
But, I hope that it is always done by consulting with them and from here an appeal to those grandparents so that, if they cannot, they are not able or simply have other plans, say it openly and do not end exhausted in summer taking care of their grandchildren.
