Traveling with children: accommodation in camping and rural houses

Are you already planning vacations? Is your destination beach or nature? Accommodation in camping and rural houses with children It is an option with more and more offer in these destinations, although the former are not yet widespread for families with babies, who usually opt for hotels and apartments.

Although many campsites are perfectly equipped to accommodate families with young children, the cottages usually offer more privacy and comfort. However, there are many camps that have cabins or little houses that have little to envy to the rural houses, with their own bathroom, kitchen ...

Generally, with small babies, the classic tent option may not be the most appropriate, either because of the discomfort of the sleeping bag, or because of the mattress or mat we use, or because of the narrowness. A travel cot will only fit in large stores.

For them, in camping with a baby It is usually more common to choose cabins, with better mattresses and with their own bathroom in which to comfortably clean the baby. Here we also have the advantage of our own kitchen, which as we see was a point in favor of the apartments, very comfortable for families. In this way we can prepare the food to the children to your liking and with flexible schedules.

In fact, the border between a camp with cabins or rural houses in a complex is quite diffuse and these types of accommodations end up being very similar: individual houses in an enclosure that shares common facilities (swimming pool, bar, shop ...). Joint rural houses are an increasingly widespread option.

Case apart is free camping, in which it becomes more complicated to care for a baby, unless we are (and are) accustomed to this type of stay, or it is a very short time.

In any case, either in camps or in rural houses as a whole, there is the advantage that people are known and there are probably more families with children.

The natural environment It is the great asset of many campsites and rural houses: walks in the countryside, always taking care of sun protection, proper footwear, protection against insects and food and water reserves, are a great option.

Choose the right accommodation

Starting from our budget, as in the case of hotels and apartments, we can choose between different categories. As a rule, the camp is cheaper than the rural house, although we have to consider that there are houses of varied sizes and that can be shared with other families, if we travel in a group, so that they are cheaper.

It is advisable to know well what services and amenities we will find in the campsite and in the rural house, if there is a children's pool, if there are shops, bars or restaurants nearby, if there is a microwave, washing machine, if they have a cot, if they clean the House…

For this, it is best to check the characteristics of the accommodations online, contact the owners directly or tell the travel agency to give us the information we need and guide us about the houses or camps appropriate to our needs.

An issue that is not always clear is what babies and children pay in the rural house or camping, from what age they pay or what is the discount applied. It is important to ensure this issue so as not to meet unexpected additional expenses.

It is also convenient that we inform ourselves about the environment we are going to, other options to do as a family: theme parks, nearby villages, rivers, lakes, visits to natural parks, zoos, hiking trails ...

So we will pass a pleasant stay with the children in camping and rural houses, taking advantage of all the possibilities. Soon we will return with more tips to enjoy family vacations in our Special Travel with children.
