14 movies you should see again now that you are a father

One of the great times we can spend with our children is in front of the TV screen watching a movie, of course adapted to the age of the children and as long as we do not spend the whole day in front of the TV.

And I think it can be a pleasant experience to see those films we saw years ago, when we were not parents yet. I am sure that this time we will see them from a different point of view and that our little ones will show us another one that perhaps we had already forgotten, that of a child's imagination. A few days ago we talked about how and when to see StarWars with your children and today I leave you my selection of the 14 movies you should see again now that you are a father.

Previous Clarifications

In case a casual, I would not have seen the movies on the list since your childhood or you are so young that you have missed such celluloid masterpieces, warn you that "stay with the story" more than with the special effects. The movies are before the 90's so don't expect any wonder, compared to those of today, but I assure you that at that time we all left the cinema with our mouths open and with dreams of adventures for two or three weeks.

The goonies

One of the cult films of the 80s, adventures, pirates, very bad bad, a family in danger and of course, a magnificent treasure to find! A film of great relevance today despite being 30 years old (have you also felt older when you have read it?), Because deep down it is about avoiding eviction, in which Mikey's gang, Brand, Gordi, Bocazas, Data, Andy and Stef have been involved, one day they fall into the hands of the treasure map of "Willy the One-eyed" and of course do not hesitate to go looking for it. By the way, it is said, it is commented that we will have a second part shortly.

The endless story

If you don't have this movie in your video library, I don't know what you're waiting for. We could see it in theaters in '84 and it is based on the novel of the same name by the German writer Michael Ende (which, by the way, denied the film, so I recommend you read the novel) published in 1979. Despite The opinion of the author always seemed to me one of the best films based on the imagination and innocence of a child, as well as a beastly criticism of the world of adults.

The story tells of worlds that are disappearing, of sick empresses, of brave, of dragons (with more like a dog than a dragon) and of course, very bad bad guys.

Inside of the labyrinth

If you liked the Endless Story you can not miss this one. A story about the consequences of wishing things lightly that will lead our protagonist (here we are already eliminating some cliché) to live an adventure through fantastic worlds to free his little brother, kidnapped by the king of the Goblins, played by David Bowie (I do not know very well why he was put as king. Rarito was a bit, but not so much) A magnificent film, antithesis of the previous one, in which in the end we must choose between being children and living in fantasy or accept reality and recognize that we have become adults. An honest, entertaining and well told film.

The engaged princess

We continue with the fantasy with one of my favorite movies. Who has not ever said that "I am Íñigo Montoya, you killed my father. Get ready to die!" As scarps, I still get my hair.

A story of searching for lost love, true love, one that is capable of moving mountains, one that only those made for each other can feel, with a beautiful parallel story between a grandfather and his sick grandson, a child who doesn't like love stories and kisses at all ... or maybe he hadn't paid enough attention. You can't stop seeing it, and if you want to read to your children too, know that it is based on the homonymous book of 1973, written by William Goldman.

I would not know how to describe this tape, it is simply immeasurable.

Lady Falcon

We continue with fantasy stories with another one of my favorites. Another adventure in search of the union of two lovers separated by hate, one lives in the day and the other at night, both taking care of each other until they finally find a way to get back together again. A timeless film executed with mastery.

E.T.

My house, telephone, do you remember? For years I was not sure if it was a horror movie that the screenwriter decided to change to a childish one or a masterpiece of a children's film that was put on suspense strokes. The fact is that this little alien got into our homes and we all cried a little when he finally found his house and his family again.

A "must" for Saturday afternoon.

Count on me

A wonderful story of love and friendship among young friends. Four boys, Gordie Lachance, Chris Chambers, Teddy Duchamp, Vern Tessio embark on an affair after Vern had heard his brother and a friend of his talk about the place where Ray Brower's body is found, a boy of his age disappeared days ago. They decide to go to the place to find the body and go on television.

Home alone

What happens when we go on a trip and leave one of our children forgotten at home? Probably that we would receive the visit of the Social Services, but since it is a movie and we do not want dramas, which are already left over from them, we find a hilarious comedy between thieves and a boy with a lot of imagination and why not say it, a little of bad milk

Indiana Jones

Continuing with the adventure movies could not miss one of the pillars of this genre. Professor Indiana Jones and his many adventures throughout the world in search of strange artifacts and relics, of course with a whole legion of bad people in charge of spoiling our hero's trip.

One thing, if your children tell you that they prefer the other Jones, Tadeo Jones, do not take it into account, they are young and have much to learn.

Herbie

We will go a little further back, until the 60's where we find a Volkswagen Sedan with certain human characteristics, which has been used in several Disney movies since 1968 with the movie, The Love Bug. The car is aware of itself and is capable of driving on its own, without requiring a driver. Although its front part is mostly composed of fixed metal parts, Herbie is limitedly able to bend them and change their position, which allows her to make her face very expressive (or inexpressive at the right times). He is a serious contender in car racing competitions.

Undoubtedly very funny movies, old school and absolutely suitable for children.

Mary Poppins

Supercalifragilisticoexpialidoso, you will not be able to get it out of your head in a week, but surely it will be worth singing all together. A classic screen.

The wonderful adventures of this special nanny.

The Wizard of Oz

The film is based on the children's novel by L. Frank Baum The wonderful Wizard of Oz, in which a young American woman is dragged by a tornado in the state of Kansas and left in a fantastic land where good and bad witches live, a scarecrow that speaks, a cowardly lion, a tin man and other extraordinary beings.

El Chico or some silent movie

In a world where there is an overexposure to stimuli, there is nothing wrong, from time to time, put it aside and immerse yourself in another that forces us to use our imagination, to be we who believe the missing details in the script. And of course, nothing better than the teacher of teachers, Chaplin. I also recommend seeing others from Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd, the crazy man with glasses without glasses.

Grease

It may be a bit for the older ones at home, although it is also certain that the little ones will enjoy it. A classic within the musicals. Prepare the combs and the hair because the era of the tupés arrives.

I hope you liked this selection and if you have any to include in the list, do not hesitate to tell us.
