Back to school is here: how to survive the first days

These days, more than eight million children in Spain begin the 2019-2020 school year. Today is the day for most children in primary and secondary school, while in the next few days, high school and high school begin.

Some children come back with all the desire. Many are already bored of being at home and going back to school is an entertainment for a vacation that is long. On the other hand, there are those who return dragging their shoes as if not wanting to return to the routine. And the same thing happens to parents.

Not all Autonomous Communities start today. Today the schools of the Canary Islands, Castilla La Mancha, Castilla y León, Madrid, Valencia and the Basque Country return to school. On Tuesday, September 10, the course will begin in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Ceuta and Melilla, on Wednesday 11 in the Balearic Islands and Galicia, while on Thursday the students of Catalonia and Extremadura will return to the classroom.

Five tips for a back to school without stress

Get organized

Chaos is not good to return to the routine without stress. Organizing and anticipating is key for everything to go on wheels. Make sure your child has everything they need to go back to school: textbooks, uniform, backpack, school supplies ...

You can also set as a rule, if you didn't do it already, leave everything ready the night before (the backpack, the uniform, the homework, whatever ...), in order to avoid morning contingencies that neglect the beginning of the day.

The little ones will have to be helped, but it is a good habit that helps promote autonomy in children.

Accommodate schedules

It is time to adjust the schedules at home, since in summer vacations they are usually out of control. You have to start dinner before and go to bed earlier, but it will be very hard to get up early when school starts. Here we recommend a plan to rearrange the children's sleep hours for the beginning of the course.

The worst children wear are the early risers, so try to wake him up early every day and once school starts, to prevent the mornings at home from being a hell, give him time to wake up at his own pace. If your child is one of those people who find it difficult to adapt to the world in the morning, wake him up ten minutes earlier.

Join him

Even if you are not new to school or one of the youngest children who start their school life, your child needs you too. If possible, accompany the first days to the school and when you pick him up, ask him how he has done in school, but without overwhelming him, because in some children it has the opposite effect: absolute muteness.

Ask him about his teachers, his classmates, what he likes most about school ... Here we leave you a few ways to ask him how he did in school, without asking him directly.

The youngest is the ones who find it harder to separate from their parents. Accompany him in the adaptation period as much as you can to make it as bearable as possible. Here are some useful tips for a better adaptation to the nursery or nursery school.

A good breakfast

The first meal of the day will help them cope with the return to the routine with energy, so dedicate the time you deserve.

Positive attitude

Everyone (some more others less) is affected by the return to the routine, and children also. We all suffer from post-vacation syndrome, even children, we would all like to live on vacation forever, but this is not possible. So, Put on the hat of optimism and infect your family.

Do not talk about going back to school as if it were the end of the world. Talk to your children with enthusiasm about what awaits you. Tell him that he will meet new friends, his teacher, remind him how well it will happen and all the new things he will learn during the next course.
